This November, we feature a destination that's famous for its surf break-- Siargao. Located in Surigao del Norte, Siargao has a laid-back vibe which makes it perfect for island dwellers. Like to party? Siargao's social scene maybe right up your alley with bars and pubs at the beachfront. The destination also boasts of its tri-island tour in the Naked Island, Daku Island, and Guyam. A trip to Siargao also wouldn't be complete without visiting the nearby Sohoton Cove in Bucas Grande Island that's also within Surigao del Norte; be enchanted by the rock formations and observe numerous jellyfishes that flock the area. With this we say, welcome explorers to the Philippines!

Boasting on rich cultural heritage, and awe-inspiring natural landscapes, the island region of Mindanao is unlike any other hidden gem. It is in Mindanao where the dream weavers of the T'boli indigenous tribe in Lake Sebu reside, weaving the T'nalak and passing on the tradition for centuries. It is in this island region where the unadulterated rolling hills of the La Palmera Mountain Ridge in Sultan Kudarat can be found. It is in Mindanao where Mt. Apo, the highest peak in the Philippines stands at 2,954 metres tall, and is one of the homes of the Philippine Eagle. But this month, as you plan your summer adventures for next year, we will be spotlighting some of the famous beaches in Mindanao.

Today, we feature Samal Island in Davao del Norte. Officially known as the Island Garden City of Samal, it is well-known for its white sand beaches and crystal clear waters where one can do scuba diving, island hopping, or even hiking! The island is a 2 kilometre ferry ride from Davao City, and is one of the largest resort cities in the country. The months of December to May may be the good time to visit as the island generally has calm waters during this time, and is considered the dry season. June to November on the other hand is the rainy season for the destination, although it may also be a good time to visit if one prefers fewer crowds. Whatever season you prefer to visit, Samal Island will surely be there to accommodate you

First up is Mantigue Island in Camiguin, also known locally as Magsaysay Island-- a beach that's pristine and generally litter-free where you can swim 'til your heart's content. Taking about 20-30 minutes from the main island, Mantigue Island is also a great diving spot and snorkeling site as it is a protected marine sanctuary.
