Taiwan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Lin Chia-lung has announced the extension of the visa-free entry program for Filipino passport holders until 2026.

The minister made the announcement in his remarks at the Philippine Independence Day reception hosted by the Manila Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei.

The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines on Friday night, June 13, 2025, said the Taiwan MOFA will also issue an official announcement on Monday, June 16.

Luisa Yu gave advice to the public after she was hailed as the the oldest Filipino to travel to all 193 United Nations member countries at the age of 79 years old in November 2023.

“Just enjoy your life while you still have time. Traveling is therapy. ’Pag nasa bahay ako, marami akong sakit. ’Pag nagta-travel ako, nawawala lahat,” Yu said, encouraging others to pursue travelling regardless of age.

At age 77, Yu fulfilled a lifelong dream by skydiving in Dubai, an activity initially advised against by her doctor but eventually approved due to her determination.

Before travelling the world, Yu worked as a medical technologist and later became a US citizen. She also overcame challenges as a single mother while building her career.
