When work feels more like a fun escape... Had a blast during CATG's familiarization tour today at the City of Naga. We visited so many sites but what stood out for me the most was how the local government focused on offering services and showcasing their destinations with the masses in mind. No entrances and fees, the food was amazing, the hospitality is top notch... The City of Naga is indeed an understated tour destination. NAGA ATONG GARBO!

Honored to represent the tour guides of Cebu as a CATG officer at the 23rd EATOF Standing Committee Meeting by the East Asia Inter-Regional Tourism Federation, alongside tourism officers, government agencies, and big players in travel.

The meeting/workshop were joined by 8 countries and focused on building Tourism Destination Resilience, with emphasis on tourism sustainability starting with being resilient.

We explored risks faced by different countries to understand how to establish resilience and sustainability…

… and how collaboration, innovation, and strong partnerships can help the tourism industry bounce back better.

Proud moment to hear how Cebu’s diverse tourism products remain one of our greatest strengths.

During the JATIC Forum at Shangri-La Mactan, I joined Ms. Judah to represent CATG. We met with many people in the Japanese tourism industry like hotel, restaurant, and transport staff, as well as the Japanese Consulate. They talked about how tourism has changed after the pandemic and how we can all work together to keep it safe and strong.

Ms. Judah spoke about Japanese tour guiding and how guides offer “optional tours,” not full tour packages like agencies do. I shared what it’s like to be an English-speaking guide in Cebu, how we handle VIPs, big groups, and guests from around the world. I talked about how DOT-accredited guides are trained to be professional and how we help both tourists and partners in the industry. I also mentioned that CATG is always ready to assist if anyone has questions or concerns. Someone asked about our uniforms, and I explained that we wear them depending on the tour, but sometimes we wear attire based on our activity or guest.

The forum was a great way to connect with our Japanese partners and show how serious and proud we are of our role in tourism.
