UAE VISA-ON-ARRIVAL UPDATE FOR FILIPINOS 🇦🇪🇵🇭

There appears to be a difference in the wording of the recent advisories issued by the UAE Embassy - Manila and the Department of Foreign Affairs, Republic of the Philippines.

🔹 UAE Embassy in Manila
Specifically mentions Filipino passport holders holding a VALID RESIDENCE PERMIT issued by the United States, European Union member states, United Kingdom, Australia, Japan, Singapore, Republic of Korea, Canada, or New Zealand.

🔹 Philippine DFA Advisory
States that Filipino passport holders possessing a VALID VISA, RESIDENCE PERMIT, OR GREEN CARD issued by the same countries shall be eligible for a UAE Visa-on-Arrival.

📌 Important Reminder:
A Residence Permit is NOT the same as a Valid Visa.

❌ US Tourist Visa (B1/B2) = Valid Visa only
❌ Japan Tourist Visa = Valid Visa only
✅ US Green Card = Residence Permit
✅ Japan Residence Card (Zairyu Card) = Residence Permit

⚠️ Until the UAE releases its official implementing guidelines or FAQs, travelers are advised not to assume that a tourist visa alone automatically qualifies for Visa-on-Arrival.

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) announced that commercial flight operations at General Santos International Airport will resume tomorrow, Monday, June 15, 2026.

This follows President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to immediately fast track repair works at the airport following last week’s earthquake, ensuring the safety, convenience, and uninterrupted travel of passengers.

Philippine Airlines (PAL) advises the public of the resumption of flights between Manila and Riyadh effective April 10, 2026, following recent developments in the Middle East region.
The safety and well-being of our passengers and crew remain our foremost priority. As Riyadh operations resume, PAL will temporarily operate via an alternate flight route to ensure the highest safety standards are maintained during this period.
As a result, select Manila-Riyadh flights will include a brief technical stop in Bangkok for refueling. No deplaning is required; passengers will remain on board while the aircraft refuels before continuing to Riyadh.
Ongoing monitoring
We continue to closely monitor the situation and will restore normal routing and full capacity as conditions allow. Updates will be communicated to affected passengers accordingly.
