If you’re visiting Da Nang and Hoi An for the first time, here are a few things worth knowing.
First, Cam Thanh Coconut Village is a fun one-time experience. The coconut basket boat ride is the main highlight — it’s lively, colorful, and very entertainment-focused, with music, dancing, and guides who really know how to put on a show. Just a tip: don’t let them spin the boat too much unless you’re ready to get dizzy. It’s best treated as a first-time activity rather than something you need to repeat every trip.
Next is Hoi An, and this is where the trip really becomes charming. During the day, it can get hot and crowded, so it’s better to pace yourself and choose cafés based on reviews. But at night, Hoi An completely changes. The lanterns, river lights, boutiques, and cafés make it one of the most atmospheric places to visit. It’s also a great spot for souvenirs like silk, coffee, tea, pottery, woodcrafts, and local finds — and yes, some prices can be negotiable.
For a slower day, My Khe Beach is a reliable place to relax. It has wide open space, fine sand, and a steady sea breeze that helps make Da Nang feel more comfortable. The vibe is different from Boracay — less party-heavy, more relaxed and laid-back. It’s the kind of beach you visit when you want to slow down, walk by the shore, or just enjoy the breeze.
Overall, Da Nang and Hoi An are best enjoyed with the right expectations: Coconut Village for the experience, Hoi An for the evening atmosphere and shopping, and My Khe Beach for a calm coastal reset.
