This National Heritage Month, Marawi Tourism Office proudly honors the enduring legacy reflected in its historic landmarks and cultural sites.

Each structure and place tells a story of the city’s identity— shaped by faith, tradition, resilience, and the rich culture of the Meranaw people. These landmarks serve not only as symbols of our past, but also as reminders of the strength and unity that continue to guide Marawi toward the future.

As we celebrate National Heritage Month, may we continue to value, preserve, and protect the cultural treasures that embody the spirit of our city and inspire generations to come. ✨

Today, we remember a chapter that forever changed Marawi City and the lives of many families and communities. We honor the memories of those we lost, the courage of those who stood for peace, and every Meranaw and individual affected by the siege. We also express our gratitude to all those who were with us and extended support during one of the most difficult chapters in our city's history.

As we reflect on the past, we also recognize the strength and spirit of our people and the progress made through unity, faith, culture, and hope. Beyond the memories of conflict lives the enduring identity of Marawi City — a city of heritage, resilience, and peace.

Hope grows when people come together with a shared vision for the future.

The Marawi City Tourism Office recently welcomed the Teach Peace Build Peace Movement at the Tourism Office for a second sit-down discussion and site visit together with peace advocate Bai Rohaniza Sumndad Usman and the team as part of continuing conversations on a proposed peace initiative envisioned for Marawi City.

The engagement provided an opportunity to further explore ideas and possibilities surrounding a project that hopes to create meaningful spaces and programs that encourage peace, understanding, learning, and stronger community participation. Through collaboration and shared aspirations, discussions centered on initiatives that can create positive impact and inspire future generations.

As Marawi City continues moving forward with resilience and renewed hope, meaningful partnerships and shared efforts remain valuable in creating opportunities that strengthen communities and cultivate a lasting culture of peace.

Meaningful progress begins with meaningful conversations and partnerships. ✨

The Marawi City Tourism Office joined an exploratory discussion initiated by Vice Governor Mohammad Khalid “Mujam” Raki-in Adiong together with representatives from the Fiqh and Halal Council of the Philippines, Inc. (FHCPI), exploring opportunities that may help strengthen Halal initiatives and improve access to Halal certification services within the province.

The discussion also became an opportunity for the office to share updates on the ongoing Marawi City Halal Tourism Initiative, including the encouraging interest shown by local food establishments and other enterprises in Marawi City toward pursuing Halal certification and strengthening Halal standards and practices.

The office likewise shared one of the common concerns raised by interested establishments — the cost of certification — emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts and support mechanisms that can help make these opportunities more accessible.

The Marawi City Tourism Office commends Vice Governor Mohammad Khalid “Mujam” Raki-in Adiong for his sincere efforts in bringing stakeholders together and opening avenues for solutions that contribute to the growth and development of communities across the province.
