The Philippines has once again been recognized as the World’s Leading Dive Destination at the World Travel Awards 2025, strengthening its reputation as one of the premier scuba diving locations on Earth. The country lies within the Coral Triangle, a marine region known for containing the highest concentration of coral reef biodiversity in the world. Philippine waters host thousands of fish species along with sea turtles, reef sharks, whale sharks, and extensive coral reef systems that attract divers from across the globe.
Among the country’s most celebrated dive locations are Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park and Apo Island, both internationally recognized for their healthy reefs and exceptional marine ecosystems. In Marine Biology and Conservation Biology, these ecosystems are considered globally significant because coral reefs support enormous biodiversity while also protecting coastlines and sustaining fisheries and tourism industries.
Experts emphasize that continued marine conservation, sustainable tourism practices, and reef protection are essential to preserving these underwater ecosystems amid growing threats from climate change, coral bleaching, pollution, and overfishing. The award highlights not only the beauty of Philippine marine environments but also the global importance of safeguarding them for future generations.
