RARE ORMOCANA BUTTERFLY SPOTTED DURING HIKE AT LAKE DANAO, ORMOС CITY

A casual hike to Lake Danao in Ormoc City turned into a magical wildlife encounter when hiker Patrick James Cruz and his friends spotted the rare Ormocana Butterfly (Lexias satrapes ormocana). This stunning butterfly is endemic to Ormoc, meaning it is found nowhere else in the world. The vibrant wings and graceful flight of the butterfly captivated the hikers and highlighted the rich biodiversity of the area.

Cruz stressed the importance of responsible hiking and environmental care, reminding visitors to practice the “Leave No Trace” principle to protect delicate species like the Ormocana Butterfly. The rare sighting serves as a reminder of the need to preserve natural habitats amid ongoing threats from development and climate change. It calls on everyone to support conservation efforts and cherish the unique wildlife of Ormoc City.

From Mahayag Substation going to Merida up to San Juan DS including LMC and going to Brgy. Tabunok, Isabel.
From Palompon Substation to Poblacion, going to Villaba up to Payao Recloser and Sandayong DS and going Liberty to Tabunok.

REASON/S:
Pole tapping and tensioning of 69kV conductor line along Isabel-Palompon subtransmission line protection.
Transferring portion of feeders 3-2 & 3-4 primary line (1 span)

We advise everyone to plan accordingly and take necessary precautions during the scheduled outage.
