The old count of 7,107 islands is history. Today, official records say the Philippines has 7,641 islands, based on advanced satellite mapping by NAMRIA.

Most of the newly counted islands are small and uninhabited—but they add to the wonder of our archipelago, from white-sand beaches to secret lagoons. Truly, the Philippines just got even more magical.
