NAIAโs New Terminal 4 Scheduled to Open by Mid-2026 โ๏ธ
Significant developments are underway at Manilaโs Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) as the old Terminal 4, which has served domestic turboprop flights since 1948, was recently demolished due to safety concerns.
In its place, the Philippine government is constructing a new Terminal 4 in the airportโs former cargo area, with an expected completion date by mid-2026, according to the Department of Transportation (DOTr).
Key details include:
The new Terminal 4 will primarily accommodate domestic carriers such as AirAsia Philippines and Cebu Pacific.
The project aims to alleviate NAIAโs severe overcrowding, as the airport handled approximately 51 million passengers in 2024, surpassing its designed capacity.
The terminal is part of a comprehensive modernization program that that also includes plans for a future Terminal 5.
The construction will free up space to build a new taxiway, enhancing aircraft movement between Terminals 1, 2, and 3.
These upgrades mark a critical step in improving passenger experience and operational efficiency at the countryโs busiest airport, supporting the Philippinesโ growing aviation sector.
