**PREPARATIONS UNDERWAY FOR TWO INTERNATIONAL CHESS EVENTS IN MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL**
NCFP Chief Executive Officer GM Jayson O. Gonzales visited Misamis Occidental today as preparations continue for the province’s hosting of two consecutive international chess tournaments in November 2026.
Together with AMOFCA President NM/Engr. Rey C. Urbiztondo, GM Gonzales conducted an ocular inspection of AMORAP in Sinacaban, the official venue of the 7th ASEAN+ Individual Chess Championships 2026 and the 2026 Misamis Occidental Philippines International Open Chess Championship.
They also met with representatives of the Provincial Government of Misamis Occidental and members of the local organizing team to coordinate venue arrangements, logistics, accommodation, transportation, and other requirements for the successful staging of both events.
The 7th ASEAN+ Individual Chess Championships 2026 will be held from November 2 to 10, followed immediately by the 2026 Misamis Occidental Philippines International Open Chess Championship from November 10 to 18.
With the continued leadership and support of Governor Atty. Henry S. Oaminal Sr. and the Provincial Government of Misamis Occidental, preparations are steadily moving forward to welcome local and international players to the “Maldives of Mindanao.”
