In this remarkable landmark, which has a pleasant environment and a wealth of historical significance, friends and family come together. But below it all is tragedy. Would you believe that the biggest naval battle of WWII took place here? Every significant empire throughout history has acquired the strongest navy. Victories and setbacks on the open seas led to many crucial phases in World War II.

The Battle of Leyte Gulf on October 23-26, 1944, was historyโ€™s largest naval engagement. This battle between the US and Japanese fleets took place in the Philippines, involving over 370 ships and 200,000 people. The final battle was fought on the island of Leyte due to its geographical features, which allowed the US Army to tactically land there, and because the inhabitants had supported guerrilla forces battling the Japanese there.

Significant casualties and damage were sustained during the combat, especially by the Japanese forces. Sadly, the Leyte Gulf battle had less of an impact on history than other engagements, such the attack on Pearl Harbor, and any European battles, like D-day and the Battle of the Bulge.

The US's victory against Japan in the battle of Leyte Gulf made it possible to liberate the Philippines. General Douglas MacArthur kept his vow to return to the location and was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for his valiant defense. Additionally, the Leyte Landing in 1944 strengthened the ties between the United States and the Philippines. It is essential for the public to remember and pay tribute to the Battle of Leyte Gulf since it is recognized as the greatest naval combat of the modern period.
