Recognized as a National Cultural Treasure by the National Museum of the Philippines, Pamilacan Island's watchtower is part of the Bohol Watchtowers Collective, designated on August 29, 2011.

Located on the northeast side of the island stands a 200-year-old Spanish fortress, once utilized as a watchtower by the Spaniards to detect intruders, such as pirates and adversaries, particularly those approaching from the south.

In celebration of National Heritage Month, the National Museum of the Philippines turned over a significant marker to Pamilacan Island in the municipality of Baclayon on May 23.

SOUTH KOREA TO BOHOL

Bohol welcomed on Thursday, July 20, 2023, Asiana Airlines’ inaugural flight, OZ7093, with 177 passengers.

The aircraft arrived at Bohol-Panglao International Airport at 12:13 a.m. from Incheon, South Korea.

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (Caap) said Asiana Airlines will fly to Bohol every Wednesday and Saturday and will aim to ramp up direct flights to Bohol from South Korea in the future.
