LOOK: At only 6 months old, this little climber already reached Mt Pulag, third highest mountain in the Philippines.

In celebration of Mother’s Day, proud mom Queenie Francisco, CEO of TataK Mountaineers and Lola Nekoo, shares a beautiful milestone with her little adventurer.

Just 6 months postpartum from a C-section delivery, this strong nanay still conquered the mountains while carrying love, strength, and determination every step of the way.

Small baby, big adventure, born to explore the mountains. 🤍

Signal devices like flares, mirrors, whistles, and radios can save lives in some situations, but they may not always work. Because of this, you should not fully depend on them to send your emergency message.

You can bring signaling devices on your climb if you think they are useful, but do not rely on them to get you out of trouble.

Good hikers prepare well and stay safe, so they reduce the chances of needing to send an emergency signal in the first place

Leaving your trip itinerary with someone you trust is a simple step that can help keep you safe. Before your trip, share your destination, route, schedule, and who you’re with.

If something unexpected happens, like delays, bad weather, or no signal, someone will know where you are and when to check on you. This can help people respond faster and get help if needed

Being prepared is not just about your gear. It’s also about making sure someone knows your plans.

Safety starts before the hike. Always leave your itinerary.

It’s a reminder for us to stay humble in the mountains. It means being honest with ourselves about what we can truly handle, not just physically, but also in terms of our skills and experience. The mountains will always be bigger than us, so we should take time to learn, train, and gain experience before trying harder climbs.

And it’s not just about your own safety. The choices you make can also affect the people hiking with you, and even the rescuers who might have to help if something goes wrong. Hikers grow step by step, starting with easier climbs, learning along the way, and slowly taking on bigger challenges. In the end, the goal isn’t to prove something. The goal is to go home safely and still be able to climb another day
