They direct attention.

“Why did you do that?”
can put someone on the defensive.

“How can we fix this?”
moves toward action.

“What can we learn from this?”
moves toward reflection and growth.

And sometimes:
"What happened?”
is exactly where you need to start.

When someone isn't performing the way we expect, our brain loves a quick explanation:

“Careless.”
“Lazy.”
“Difficult.”
“Doesn't care.”

But labels tell us what we think they are.

Curiosity helps us discover what's actually happening.

Before correcting the behavior, ask: What might be driving it?
You might discover that the problem isn't attitude at all.

Maybe the expectation wasn't clear.
Maybe they don't have the skill yet.
Maybe something else is getting in the way.

Or maybe… you don't have the full story.

Your brain is constantly making sense of the world.
Thoughts arrive before you even have time to question it.

That's normal.
But here's the part we sometimes forget:

You don't have to act on every thought your brain produces.

You can notice it.
Question it.
Get more information.
And choose what to do next.

That's not ignoring your brain.

That's learning to work with it.

Because between:

WHAT HAPPENS → WHAT YOU THINK → WHAT YOU DO

there is a space.

And that space is where choice lives.
