The Tour Guiding Skills Training concluded with a Rated Mock Tour giving the participants the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills they gained throughout the training.

The mock tour started at Layao River, followed by the Municipal Hall, Guina-ang Village, Kabunyan Spring, and Galdang. At each destination the participants took turns guiding and presenting the attractions while showcasing their skills in commentary, storytelling, communication, itinerary management, visitor handling and safety.

As part of the final day, the participants also formed their own local tour guidesโ€™ organization and elected their officers which aims to strengthen cooperation among the guides, provide a platform for continuous learning and support the development of tourism in the Municipality of Pasil.

The Awarding Ceremony was also conducted to recognize the participants who successfully completed the training. The awarding was facilitated by Mr. Lawrence Sampol of the Department of Tourismโ€“Cordillera Administrative Region (DOT-CAR).

The Local Government Unit of Pasil extends its heartfelt appreciation to Mr. Lawrence Sampol, Mr. Larry Andres, Ms. Lorie Jane Rosales and all the resource speakers, facilitators and participants for their valuable contributions, hard work, and dedication throughout the training.

We extends our heartfelt gratitude to Mayor Atty. Silvestre A. Mosing for his support and commitment to the development of local tourism in our municipality.

Our appreciation also goes to the MDRRM Office, our coach captain Wagner and Hector, for helping fetch and transport our resource speakers and for serving as our drivers during the various training activities and field exercises.Your support and dedication greatly contributed to the successful conduct of the training.

We also thanked the officials and residents of Barangay Galdang and Guina-ang for warmly welcoming the participants and supporting the Rated Mock Tour. Your hospitality and cooperation helped make the activity meaningful and successful.

The sixth day of the Tour Guiding Skills Training focused on practical outdoor skills that local tour guides can use when guiding visitors in mountains, trails, and other outdoor destinations.

The participants underwent hands-on training in Mountain Guiding, where they learned basic techniques for safely leading and assisting visitors during mountain and trail activities. The session emphasized proper preparation, awareness of the surroundings, and the safety of both guides and visitors.

They also learned and practiced Rope Knotting Techniques, gaining useful skills for securing equipment and handling different situations during outdoor activities.

Another activity was Tent Pitching, where participants learned how to properly set up and secure a tent, choose a suitable location, and make sure the tent is safe and stable for use.

The participants also experienced cooking using bamboo as an outdoor survival and cultural skill that showed how natural and locally available materials can be used in preparing food. This activity also gave the participants an opportunity to appreciate traditional practices that can be shared with visitors during cultural and outdoor tours.

These hands-on activities were facilitated by Mr. Larry Andres who shared his knowledge and practical experience in outdoor and survival skills.

The activities helped the participants become more confident and prepared in handling outdoor tours while ensuring the safety, comfort and enjoyable experience of visitors.

The Tour Guiding Skills Training continued on its fifth day with meaningful discussions and hands-on learning experiences designed to further strengthen the skills of our local tour guides.

Ms. Lorie Jane Rosales, FBSE Master Trainer, discussed on Commentary Development, Itinerary Planning, and the Tourism Industry. The sessions helped participants improve their skills in preparing tour commentaries, creating well-planned itineraries, and understanding the important role of tour guides in the tourism industry.

The participants also had a Cultural Immersion in Barangay Dangtalan, Pasil, where they experienced and learned more about the communityโ€™s culture and tradition. The immersion featured the traditional old house, pottery making, and the Slow Food Community Dangtalan, giving the participants a deeper understanding of the local traditions, products, and way of life that they can share with visitors.

Meanwhile, Municipal Administrator Geopano Mosing expressed his appreciation to the resource speakers for sharing their knowledge and expertise. He also extended his heartfelt gratitude to all the participants for their active participation, dedication, and enthusiasm throughout the training.

Day 4 | Tour Guiding Skills Training

The Day 4 of the Tour Guiding Skills Training continued with meaningful discussions aimed at developing participants into confident, knowledgeable, and professional local tour guides.

The training was facilitated by Mr. Lawrence Sampol of the Department of Tourismโ€“Cordillera Administrative Region (DOT-CAR), who continued to guide and mentor the participants throughout the program.

The dayโ€™s session was conducted by Ms. Lorrie Jane Rosales, who discussed Tour Guiding as a Profession and Tour Guiding Techniques. She emphasized the important role of tour guides as ambassadors of their community and highlighted the values of professionalism, effective communication, proper tour management, and excellent customer service.

Through interactive discussions, practical exercises, and tour guiding simulations, participants enhanced their guiding techniques, strengthened their communication skills, and gained the confidence to deliver informative, engaging, and memorable experiences for visitors.

Due to the effects of Tropical Storm MAYMAY and continuous heavy rainfall, all tourism activities in the Municipality of Pasil are hereby suspended today August 6, 2026 until further notice to ensure the safety of all visitors and local residents.

The third day of the Tour Guiding Skills Training focused on the Filipino Brand of Service Excellence (FBSE), one of the Department of Tourismโ€™s flagship programs that promotes world-class service through genuine Filipino hospitality with a heart.

The dayโ€™s sessions were facilitated by Mr. Lawrence Sampol of the Department of Tourismโ€“Cordillera Administrative Region (DOT-CAR), who shared valuable insights on the tourism industry and the important role of tour guides.

Meanwhile, Ms. Lorrie Jane Rosales, a Filipino Brand of Service Excellence (FBSE) Master Trainer trained the participants through the principles and values of excellent customer service. She emphasized the importance of being courteous, respectful, helpful, and professional in every interaction with visitors. Through interactive activities and group exercises, participants learned how to create memorable and meaningful experiences for every tourist.

Mabuhay! The Day 2 of the Tour Guiding Skills Training was successfully conducted at Bisong Inn, Amdalao, Pasil, Kalinga in partnership with the Department of Tourismโ€“Cordillera Administrative Region (DOT-CAR).

The second day focused on safety, emergency response, and disaster preparedness to help participants become responsible and well-prepared local tour guides.

Ms. Marilyn B. Pagutayao, LDRRMO II, discussed Disaster Preparedness and Hazard Mapping helping participants understand potential hazards and how to respond during emergencies.

Afterwards, Mr. Jimuel Massagan together with MHO Pasil trainors demonstrated hands-on sessions on Basic Life Support (BLS) and Standard First Aid equipping participants with life-saving skills they can use during emergencies involving visitors.

Moreover, Ms. Beverly Paliso also discussed Food Safety and Sanitation for Tourism and Public Health Compliance and Disease Surveillance, emphasizing the importance of keeping visitors safe and healthy while traveling.

During the afternoon session, Ms. Alma Dawaton tackled on Medical Emergency Signalling teaching participants how to properly communicate and respond during medical emergencies.

Meanwhile, FO2 Vladimir Banasan led discussions on Fire Behavior and Chemistry, Fire Safety and Prevention, Hands-on Fire Suppression Techniques, and Emergency Evacuation Drills. These sessions prepared participants to respond effectively to fire incidents, especially in homestays, campsites, and forest trails.

Lastly, Mr. Lawrence Sampol of the Department of Tourismโ€“Cordillera Administrative Region (DOT-CAR) presented the current tourism situation and discussed the Tour Guide Accreditation Program. He further explained the importance of accreditation in ensuring quality service, professionalism, and credibility among local tour guides.

Mabuhay! The Local Government Unit of Pasil led by Mayor Atty. Silvestre A. Mosing, through the Municipal Tourism, Culture and Arts Office, in partnership with the Department of Tourismโ€“Cordillera Administrative Region (DOT-CAR) successfully conducted Day 1 of the Tour Guiding Skills Training at Bisong Inn, Amdalao, Pasil, Kalinga.

In his message, Atty. Silvestre A. Mosing encouraged the participants to become responsible, respectful, and proud ambassadors of Pasil. He emphasized that tour guides play an important role in welcoming visitors and helping promote tourism that benefits the local community.

The morning session was led by TOO II Rizalyn P. Dangiw who discussed on heritage interpretation, accurate storytelling, and the importance of taking pride in the culture and traditions of Pasil.

Likewise in the afternoon, PLT. Lester Gayamos and PCMS. Melba T. Lingayo of Pasil MPS discussed on tourist safety, security, and tourist law enforcement.

Moreover, Engr. Jhon Rod B. Patongao EMS II, also shared important lessons on environmental protection and ecotourism.

The six-day training aims to equip local tour guides with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to provide quality visitor experiences while promoting the rich culture, traditions, and natural beauty of the Municipality of Pasil.
