By CBAPIโs Refiners Ink
Despite finishing last in the quarterfinals, John Zhian Enario, fondly called โWonderboyโ by his coaches and teammates, has already made history. At just 13 years old, this determined young athlete from Miranda, Pontevedra earned the rare opportunity to represent the Philippines in the prestigious Pyrenees Cup held in Spain, a first in his promising football career.
A proud Grade 8 student of Calvary Baptist Academy, John balances both academics and athletics with passion and discipline. Selected by NCRFA (National Capital Region Football Association), he embarked on his maiden international journey, showcasing not just his athletic skill but also the heart and resilience of a true Filipino player. Competing against some of the best young footballers in Europe, Zhian displayed unwavering grit, composure, and sportsmanship despite the intense pressure of high level matches.
Behind his growing success is the strong foundation laid by RSG Calvary FC and Dolphins FC, where his raw talent was molded into refined skill under the guidance of his dedicated mentors, Coach JiAr Gandel and Coach Reggie Miraflor. These two have played a pivotal role in Zhianโs development, instilling in him the values of perseverance, discipline, and humility.
The experience in Spain has not only opened new doors for Zhian but also inspired many young athletes back home. His story is a reminder that with faith, effort, and the right guidance, even small-town dreams can reach global stages.
