PALAWAN CROWNED WORLD'S BEST ISLAND FOR 2025
Palawan has been named the World’s Best Island to Visit in 2025 by U.S. News & World Report, placing the Philippine destination at the top of a prestigious global list that celebrates natural beauty, adventure, and accessibility. The report praised Palawan’s “impressive coastlines, immersive experiences, and alluring characteristics,” spotlighting must-see destinations like Coron’s crystal-clear Kayangan Lake, the dramatic lagoons of Bacuit Bay in El Nido, and the stunning cave-kayaking experience along the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River.
Palawan is the only Southeast Asian destination to break into the top 10, surpassing other world-renowned islands such as Sardinia, Mauritius, and Santorini. The recognition reflects the island’s unique ability to attract both thrill-seeking adventurers and laid-back beach lovers.
Department of Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco expressed pride in the global recognition, stating, “This incredible honor affirms what we Filipinos have always known: that Palawan, with its pristine turquoise waters, towering limestone cliffs, majestic underground rivers, and rich biodiversity, is truly a paradise unlike any other.”
She added that Palawan’s charm — from the enchanting lagoons of El Nido and Coron to the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Puerto Princesa Subterranean River — continues to capture the hearts of travelers around the world. Under the leadership of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., Frasco emphasized the DOT’s commitment to further positioning the Philippines as a tourism powerhouse in Asia through sustainable and inclusive tourism efforts.
