✈🏆Singapore Airlines Named World’s Best Airline at 2026 Skytrax Awards

LONDON, September 18, 2026 — Singapore Airlines has been named the World’s Best Airline for 2026 at the prestigious Skytrax World Airline Awards, reclaiming aviation’s top passenger-voted honor and marking the sixth time the carrier has received the award.

The announcement was made Friday at the annual World Airline Awards ceremony at The Langham Hotel in London. The awards are based on the results of Skytrax’s global passenger satisfaction survey, which collected feedback from more than 24.8 million travelers representing more than 100 nationalities and covering more than 300 airlines. Singapore Airlines moved ahead of Qatar Airways, which ranked second, while Cathay Pacific placed third. ANA All Nippon Airways and Turkish Airlines completed the global top five. (World Airline Awards⁠ )

The 2026 victory represents Singapore Airlines’ sixth World’s Best Airline title in the history of the Skytrax awards. The carrier also collected several other major honors, including World’s Best Economy Class, World’s Best Economy Class Onboard Catering, and Best Airline in Asia. (Singapore Airlines⁠ )

Singapore Airlines CEO Goh Choon Phong credited the airline’s employees and passengers for the recognition, saying the award reflects the dedication of its people and the trust of its customers.

Skytrax CEO Edward Plaisted also highlighted Singapore Airlines’ performance across both its service and product offerings, noting that the airline achieved particularly strong results in several categories.

The award is based on a survey conducted between September 2025 and August 2026. Skytrax says the survey is independently operated and funded by the organization, with no airline paying to participate or receive an award. (World Airline Awards⁠ )

Qatar Airways takes second place

Qatar Airways, which had won the World’s Best Airline title in the previous two years, finished second overall in 2026. Despite losing the top overall position, the airline collected four major awards, including World’s Best Business Class Airline, an honor it has now received for the 13th time.

Qatar Airways also won World’s Best Business Class Lounge, Best Airline in the Middle East, and the inaugural World’s Best Onboard Wi-Fi award. (Skytrax⁠ )

Other major winners

Cathay Pacific finished third overall and was named World’s Best Cabin Crew, while Air France won World’s Best First Class. Emirates took the award for World’s Best Inflight Entertainment, while STARLUX Airlines was recognized as the World’s Cleanest Airline.

AirAsia retained its position as the World’s Best Low-Cost Airline, extending its winning streak to 17 consecutive years. Singapore Airlines’ low-cost subsidiary, Scoot, was named World’s Best Long Haul Low-Cost Airline for the sixth consecutive year. (Skytrax⁠ )

The 2026 results once again highlight the strong performance of Asian airlines in the global rankings, with Singapore Airlines, Qatar Airways, Cathay Pacific, ANA, and several other major Asian carriers occupying prominent positions.

For Singapore Airlines, however, the headline achievement belongs to its return to the top of the global ranking — once again earning the title of World’s Best Airline based on the votes of travelers around the world.
