Today, on this year’s World Turtle Day, we celebrate one of Palawan’s most iconic marine treasures — our sea turtles. 🐢💚

Palawan’s water are home to endangered turtle species that play a vital role in keeping our marine ecosystem healthy. From maintaining seagrass beds to supporting coral reef balance, turtles are essential to ocean life. Yet despite their importance, they continue to face serious threats such as plastic pollution, illegal wildlife trade, habitat destruction, fishing net entanglement, and the impacts of climate change.

Many nesting sites across Palawan are now under pressure, and every year, rescued turtles remind us that conservation efforts are more urgent than ever. Protecting them means protecting the future of our oceans and the livelihood of coastal communities that depend on them.

Let this day be a reminder that small actions matter:
🌊 Reduce plastic use
🌊 Respect marine protected areas
🌊 Support local conservation efforts
🌊 Never disturb nesting turtles or hatchlings
