From classroom connections to unforgettable adventures—what an amazing learning journey in Japan!

The students of Ateneo de Manila Junior High School took learning beyond borders as they visited Sophia Fukuoka and Hiroshima Gakuin Junior and Senior High School, where they connected with fellow Jesuit students, exchanged cultures, and built new friendships through meaningful interactions and shared experiences.

But the adventure didn't stop there! The students rolled up their sleeves and became ramen and okonomiyaki chefs for a day, discovering the art behind Japan's most beloved dishes. Their journey continued by visiting the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, the Atomic Bomb Dome, and the beautiful island of Miyajima, taking in breathtaking views and rich traditions.

Before bidding farewell to the remarkable experience, the students explored the Mazda Museum, gaining a closer look at Japan's world-renowned automotive innovation and craftsmanship.

As the journey came to an end, the students returned home with more than just souvenirs—they carried cherished memories, new friendships, and experiences that will stay with them for years to come.

🦅🇵🇭 𝐆’𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐞! 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐨 𝐝𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐥𝐚 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐀𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐚! 🇦🇺🦘

Over nine days, the boys explored the wonders of 𝐒𝐲𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐚, creating memories and experiences they'll carry with them for years to come!

📚 The boys’ adventure began with an exciting immersion at 𝐒𝐭. 𝐀𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐮𝐬’ 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞, where they were warmly welcomed by 𝐌𝐫. 𝐃𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐞𝐥 𝐑𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐢, 𝐌𝐫. 𝐏𝐉 𝐀𝐥𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐚𝐬 (an Ateneo alumnus!), and their Aussie peers. From jamming in Music class to diving into English and Science discussions, each moment was a chance to learn, connect, and create lasting friendships. 🎶📐🗣️

🌿 The boys dove into rich 𝐀𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬, trying their hand at traditional weaving, painting, and even learning how Aboriginal tools are used. They proudly crafted their own bracelets and artworks - souvenirs of culture and creativity! 🎨🧵

🌊 They also trekked through the scenic trails leading to 𝐈𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐰𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐚𝐥𝐥, taking in the fresh air and natural beauty of the Australian landscape. The day ended on a flavorful note with a hearty and unforgettable 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐡 𝐓𝐮𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐫 𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐫! 🌿🍽️

🕍 They explored iconic spots like 𝐒𝐭. 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐲’𝐬 𝐂𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐝𝐫𝐚𝐥, 𝐒𝐲𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚 𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞, 𝐁𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐢 𝐁𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡, 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐬, and had the chance to walk around 𝐕𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐝 𝐒𝐲𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐲.

🏫 At 𝐌𝐚𝐜𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲, the group explored its state-of-the-art campus and facilities. They also took part in an insightful session with 𝐌𝐫. 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐊𝐚𝐫𝐮𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐧𝐞, where they learned about global opportunities in higher education and building future-ready careers. 💼✨

In 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐚, the boys stood in the halls of 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞, paid their respects at the 𝐀𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐖𝐚𝐫 𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥, and discovered how money is made at the 𝐑𝐨𝐲𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐭. The fun didn’t stop there, as they had interactive science experiences at 𝐐𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐜𝐨𝐧, Australia’s National Science and Technology Centre!

More than just a tour, it was a journey of 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭, 𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧; values the boys will carry with them wherever they go. 💙

The goodbyes were tough and the sepanx is real, but the memories made will last a 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞.

Thank you for the warmth, lessons, and adventure, Australia! We’ll be back, mate! 😉🇦🇺🐨

🦅🇵🇭 こんにちは! 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐨 𝐝𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐥𝐚 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐉𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐧! 🇯🇵⛩️

For their 9-day educational and cultural journey across the land of the rising sun, the boys of Ateneo JHS experienced a wide range of exciting, enriching, and unforgettable moments!

🎓 At 𝐇𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐦𝐚 𝐆𝐚𝐤𝐮𝐢𝐧 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐫 & 𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥, they were warmly welcomed for a 2-day study tour filled with meaningful exchange. They joined classes, reflected on the life of Pedro Arrupe, participated in a prayer for peace, and got hands-on with Japanese culture! ✂️🖌️⚽

⛩️ In 𝐇𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐦𝐚, they explored landmarks like the Peace Park, Hiroshima Castle, and Itsukushima Shrine in Miyajima. They also tried their hand at making okonomiyaki, a delicious local dish, in a fun cooking class experience! 🍳

🌍 For an inspiring look into science, innovation, and sustainability, the boys explored the future of global collaboration at the 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐨 𝐎𝐬𝐚𝐤𝐚 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓! They visited interactive and thought-provoking pavilions, including the Philippine Pavilion 🇵🇭. They also discovered real-world solutions at the Best Practices program. ✨

🗺️ Between destinations, they 𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐉𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞 through food sample making in Osaka, a tea ceremony and ninja experience in Kyoto, and sumi ink-making in Nara. From bustling markets in Dotonbori to peaceful walks through Fushimi Inari and Nara Park, every day offered something new to learn, taste, and experience. ⛩️🍵🍢

Beyond the sights and activities, the true highlight was the friendships built and the values learned - 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭, 𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 - wherever in the world they may be.
