From being carried on trails…
to conquering them on his own.

You’re not the baby we carried anymore. You walked that trail yourself. You stood there confidently, arms open, proud and happy. The same mountain you once visited as an 8-month-old baby is now a place you can return to on your own two feet.

It makes me realize how fast time moves. One day you’re in my arms, and the next, you’re reaching summits on your own.

The mountains watched you grow.
And we did too. 💛

Spotted along the trail in Mt. Balagbag.

Hindi lahat ng “I was here” kailangang iukit sa bato.
Mas tumatagal ang respeto sa kalikasan kaysa sa pangalan na iniiwan dito.

The mountains are not our canvas — they are our responsibility.

Leave No Trace. 🌿

Mt. Tapulao is temporarily CLOSED for trail rehabilitation and environmental recovery.
This closure should also remind us—especially hike organizers—that mountains are not just products to sell.

Leave No Trace is not optional.
It’s not a tagline.
It’s a responsibility.

Kapag mas inuuna ang quota, kita, at dami ng joiners kaysa sa trail capacity, safety,
at kalikasan; ito ang resulta.
Nature eventually asks us to stop.

Let this be a pause not just for the mountain,
but for us to reflect.
Protect the trails. Respect the mountains.
Because if we don’t, there will be nothing left to climb.

Mt. Pulag (via Ambangeg)
What We Wore as a Family ❄️👨🏻👩🏻🧑🏻👦🏻

Hiking Mt. Pulag via Ambangeg is often described as “easy,” and in many ways, it is. The trail is friendly, the ascent is gradual, and it’s a favorite for beginners. But one thing we’ve learned over time is this: no hike is ever truly easy when the weather decides otherwise.

Up in Pulag, conditions can change quickly. A calm, sunny start can turn into biting cold, strong winds, and thick fog in just a few moments. And when you’re hiking not just for yourself but with your family, especially kids, preparedness becomes everything.

These are the clothes we wore on our climb:
mine, Carlos’,& our kids’, Caloy (11) and Ivar(6).
Every layer was chosen with intention. Not for style, but for warmth, movement, and comfort. Because in the mountains, proper clothing isn’t optional, it’s part of safety.

Hiking with kids teaches you a different kind of responsibility. You don’t just think about reaching the summit; you think about keeping little bodies warm, dry, and happy enough to keep going. When children are comfortable, they enjoy the hike more—and when they enjoy it, they learn to love the mountains too.

A few simple reminders for family hikes like Mt. Pulag:
• Always dress in layers so you can adjust to changing weather
• Prioritize warmth and wind protection, even on “easy” trails
• Choose clothes that allow kids to move freely and stay dry
• Remember: weather can turn a simple trail into a challenging one

The mountain doesn’t ask for much, just respect.
And respect, for us, starts with being ready. ⛰️
