In the 1970s, Taytayโ€™s very own fashion designer, Merlino Cruz, and Don Pepito Esperanza, were inspired by a "Sunduan" they saw in Paraรฑaque and decided to bring a more glamorous version to Taytay, Rizal.

In 1975, Sunduan in Taytay was born under the leadership of the late Mayor Ricardo "Ric" Rufino, with the help of Atty. Luisito Reyes, Merlino Cruz, and renowned singer Ms. Angelina Velasco. ๐ŸŽถ

Sunduan is a beautiful tradition where young ladies from various barangays are serenaded ๐ŸŽค and fetched by gentlemen in a grand parade ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™€๏ธ, dressed in traditional Filipino attire ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ญ๐Ÿ‘—. It serves as a wonderful way to introduce our young ladies to society, while celebrating our rich culture through a program and feast. ๐Ÿฅณ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ

Thanks to the continued efforts of nationally renowned designer Mr. Gener Gozum and the Sunduan Cultural Society of Taytay, Inc, Sunduan has flourished over the years. Efforts are now underway to officially register it as an Important Cultural Property with the backing of Mayor Allan de Leon. ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ’ซ
