Sarsarap

Isa sa mga pinakanagustuhan kong pagkain sa Romblon Island at Sibuyan Island ay ang SARSA.

Isa itong kilalang delicacy na gawa sa dinikdik na freshwater shrimp (uyang), murang niyog (lukadon ang tawag namin sa Bicol 🙂 ), at mga pampalasa. Ibinabalot ito sa dahon ng niyog at niluluto sa gata, kaya napakasarap ipares sa mainit na kanin. Sa ngayon, ₱20 lang ang isang piraso, kaya napakalaking tulong nito bilang abot-kayang ulam para sa maraming pamilya, pati sa mga estudyante.

Sa Sibuyan Island lalo na, masaganang nahuhuli ang freshwater shrimp sa malilinis na ilog, kaya nagsisilbi itong mahalagang pinagkukunan ng pagkain at kabuhayan ng maraming komunidad. Dahil sensitibo ang mga freshwater ecosystem sa polusyon at pagkasira ng watershed, mahalagang mapangalagaan ang mga ilog na ito. Ang mga gawaing tulad ng pagmimina, kapag hindi maayos ang pamamahala, ay maaaring magdulot ng pagguho ng lupa at pagdami ng latak (sedimentation) sa mga ilog, na nagpapababa ng kalidad ng tubig at nakaaapekto sa tirahan at pagdami ng mga freshwater shrimp at iba pang lamang-ilog.

Kaya ang pagprotekta sa kalikasan ng Sibuyan ay hindi lang tungkol sa pangangalaga ng biodiversity, tungkol din ito sa pagtiyak na magpapatuloy ang pinagkukunan ng pagkain, kabuhayan, at mga tradisyong tulad ng paggawa ng Sarsa para sa susunod na henerasyon.

PUBLIC ADVISORY

The Local Government Unit of Romblon, through the Municipal Tourism Office, hereby advises all residents, visitors, and beachgoers that the Public Beach Access at Bonbon Beach will be CLOSED on July 11–12, 2026 (Saturday and Sunday) due to the effects of the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat), which may bring strong winds, rough sea conditions, and heavy rainfall.

This temporary closure is being implemented to ensure the safety and security of the public. All beach-related activities, including swimming and other recreational activities within the Public Beach Access area, are strictly prohibited during the closure.

The public is advised to avoid traveling to Bonbon Beach until weather conditions improve and the area is declared safe for reopening.

The Local Government Unit of Romblon appreciates everyone's understanding and cooperation. Please continue to monitor official LGU Romblon channels for further updates.
