Mangroves are defenders of our coasts. We celebrate their strength and might this International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem—

They stand between us and the rising seas.
They breathe life into oceans.
They store more carbon than rainforests.

It’s time we stop taking mangroves for granted.
It’s time we fight for what holds the shore.

Demand protection. Support restoration. 🛡️🌱https://tinyurl.com/DearMrPresident-v2

This November 19–23, Bacolod City, Negros Occidental becomes the heart of a global movement for food, culture, biodiversity, and sustainability.

The first-ever Terra Madre Asia & Pacific, an event by Slow Food, aims to unite farmers, food warriors, culture keepers, and climate changemakers from across the region.

From soil to sea, it’s a Slow Food journey through tastes and traditions. More than an event, it’s a call to action.

Just 4 months to go. Are you ready? 🔥

The Slow Food Terra Madre Asia & Pacific is a project in collaboration with Congressman Albee Benitez, the City Government of Bacolod led by Mayor Greg Gasataya, the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental led by Governor Eugenio Lacson, the Department of Tourism, Department of Agriculture, Department of Trade and Industry, Congressman Javi Benitez, TESDA Director General Kiko Benitez, Senator Loren Legarda, Plus63 Design Co., FEATR, Slow Food International, and the Slow Food Community in Negros.

As typhoons threaten us, nature stands as our first line of defense. 🌊

Mangroves, seagrasses, and coastal ecosystems protect lives by softening storm surges and shielding vulnerable communities. But they, too, need protection.

We call on all Filipinos to recognize these ecosystems not just as barriers, but as climate heroes that trap carbon, protect biodiversity, and support livelihoods. You can start helping by supporting the National Coastal Greenbelt Bill: https://tinyurl.com/avttv32v.

It’s time to protect what protects us.

SALAMAT MAM JOYCE. It's rare to meet someone as truly unselfish and boundlessly generous with their love as you were. As we come to terms with your passing, it's hard to imagine Suyac Island without you.

Thank you for your meaningful partnership with the LGU of Sagay City and for mentoring nearly a hundred Suyac Junior Eco Patrol learners. Your dedication contributes to the city's sustainable tourism development. The young eco patrol is an intergenerational program designed to raise young advocates for their Suyac Island.

Your legacy lives on in each of them. We will lovingly remember you with every pagatpat leaf that falls.

You are cherished and will be missed. Rest in heaven Mam Joyce. We love you.

PS Mam Joyce was an elementary teacher at Suyac Elementary School committed to assist in Suyac Junior Eco Patrol program since 2015. She passed away after battling with cancer.
