Ten members of the Association of Active Tour Guides of La Union, Inc. (AsTG-LU), led by President Xavier B. Mercado, earned the National Certificate II (NC II) in Local Guiding Services. The certification ceremony took place on May 2, 2026, at the TESDA Ilocos Sur Provincial Office in Vigan City.

This achievement underscores AsTG-LU’s commitment to professional excellence and to raising standards in La Union’s tourism sector. The NC II credential aligns local guiding practices with national competency standards, boosting trust and safety for visitors.

The certified members are Xavier Mercado (President), Mark Aquino (1st Vice President), Almira Pagaduan (2nd Vice President), Joy Ann Gurtiza (Secretary), Aricia de Peralta (1st PRO), Julius Ray Bautista (2nd PRO), Glenn de Peralta (new AsTG-LU member), and active AsTG-LU members Thea Charisse Casuga, Sunshine dela Cruz, and Daniel Lilan.

The certification confirms that these guides meet nationally recognized standards, enhancing customer trust and satisfaction for tours around La Union’s attractions. As more guides attain NC II, local tour operators can offer safer, more informative, and higher-quality experiences, potentially boosting tourism revenue and regional competitiveness.
