𝗜𝗡 𝗣𝗛𝗢𝗧𝗢𝗦 | 42nd CSU Student Congress Officially Concludes

The 42nd Student Congress of Cagayan State University officially ended on May 24, 2025, with a closing program held at CSU-Andrews. Delegates from the nine campuses gathered one last time to mark the culmination of the four-day leadership congress.

The event formally closed a series of capacity-building sessions, elections, and collaborative activities designed to strengthen student leadership across the university system. Delegates departed by midday, carrying with them the insights and experiences gained throughout the congress.

𝗜𝗡 𝗣𝗛𝗢𝗧𝗢𝗦 | Day 3 Highlights of CSU’s 42nd Student Congress: Team Building and USCF Election

The third day of the 42nd Student Congress of Cagayan State University, held on May 23, 2025, focused on strengthening camaraderie and student democracy. The day began with an energizing Zumba session followed by team-building activities that promoted collaboration and leadership among delegates.

In the afternoon, candidates for the University Student Council Federation (USCF) presented their platforms during the Grand Rally, followed by the conduct of the official election and canvassing of votes.

The evening was capped by a Socialization Night and Awards Ceremony, where student leaders were recognized for their active participation. The event culminated in the proclamation of the newly elected USCF Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, and USCF Representatives.

𝙎𝙖𝙧𝙢𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙤 𝙋𝙪𝙨𝙝𝙚𝙨 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙐𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙮, 𝙎𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙞𝙘𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝙐𝙎𝘾𝙁 𝙂𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙍𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮

Cagayan State University — “I offer myself not just as a leader of one campus, but as a servant of all CSUans. Unity is coming.” These were the words of Alex Sarmiento, an aspiring Chairperson for the University Student Council Federation (USCF), during the grand rally for USCF candidates held today, May 23.

Known for his bold leadership style, Sarmiento laid down his platform called the “10 Commandments of a Unified University,” promoting gender equality, student empowerment, academic freedom, sustainability, better internet access, and transparency across all nine CSU campuses.

He also pledged to revive KAMPO KALIKASAN, ensure timely information updates, visit all campuses with USCF officers, and increase financial aid to Campus Student Councils from ₱20,000 to ₱30,000.

“We shall build bridges across our campuses, not walls,” he said. “We will not rule—we will serve."

𝗜𝗡 𝗣𝗛𝗢𝗧𝗢𝗦 | CSU Student Leaders Engage in Leadership Formation on Day 2 of 42nd Student Congress

Capacity building took center stage on May 22, 2025, during the second day of the 42nd Student Congress held at CSU-Andrews. The day featured three insightful plenary sessions led by distinguished speakers.

Atty. Kathleene Benzon opened the series with the first plenary session, “Why Am I Here?: Defining CSUan Leadership.” This was followed by Dr. Giged Battung’s talk on “SDGs in CSUan’s Perspective,” emphasizing the role of student leaders in sustainable development. In the third plenary, Dr. Emmanuel James Pauig Battung delivered an engaging lecture on “Purpose-Driven Leading with Ethics, Values, and Focus on Impacts.”

Breakout sessions, pre-team building activities, and the interview of University Student Council Federation (USCF) aspirants further enriched the day’s program. The evening concluded with banner-making, a reflective retreat, an acoustic night, and cultural presentations, strengthening the delegates’ sense of unity and purpose.

𝗜𝗡 𝗣𝗛𝗢𝗧𝗢𝗦 | 42nd CSU Student Congress formally opens at Andrews Campus

The 42nd Student Congress of Cagayan State University officially commenced on May 21, 2025, at the CSU-Andrews Campus. Delegates from the nine campuses arrived in the morning for registration and billeting, followed by a Eucharistic Mass presided over by Fr. Dante Dela Cruz.

The formal opening program began with a parade of delegates and was marked by messages from key university officials, including a welcome address from Atty. Carla Marie L. Sumigad, CEO of CSU-Andrews, and an opening remark from Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Mariden V. Cauilan. OIC University President Dr. Arthur G. Ibañez formally declared the congress open.

The program also featured the presentation of delegates, lighting of the torch, and a solidarity dance to signify unity among student leaders. The day concluded with a dinner and delegate briefing in preparation for the succeeding activities.

𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞 | The campus is glowing with blooming sunflowers—an initiative proposed by Mr. Ericlei Felix Caronan, a third-year BS Agriculture student majoring in Crop Science, as part of his thesis project titled "Growth, Flowering, and Seed Yield Performance of Sunflower Applied with Rice Wash Supplemented Fermented Fruit Extracts."

In collaboration with the College of Agriculture, freshly picked sunflowers are now available for purchase at 100 pesos each. Proceeds from the sunflower sales will serve as his return on investment for the project.
