NOTES FROM THE FIELD: Paano gagawing tourist-worthy ang Namuac Sand Dunes? Common expectation na ang 4x4 rides o kaya ATV rides. Hmmm.

𝗔𝗡𝗚 𝗠𝗔𝗟𝗔𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚 '𝗣𝗘𝗥𝗢'

Pero, kung pakikinggan ang mga 𝗴𝗲𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀 mula sa University of the Philippines - National Institute for Geological Sciences at sa Mines and Geosciences Bureau - Central Office, 𝗿𝗲𝗸𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗱𝗼 𝗻𝗶𝗹𝗮 𝗻𝗮 𝗺𝗴𝗮 "𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗲𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁" 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗹𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗱𝗮𝗽𝗮𝘁 𝗴𝗮𝘄𝗶𝗻 𝘀𝗮 𝗡𝗮𝗺𝘂𝗮𝗰 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝘂𝗻𝗲𝘀 upang maiwasan ang "mass wasting" o mabilisang pagkaka-displace ng mga buhangin.

Hindi rekomendado ang "high environmental impact" activities tulad ng paggamit ng mga ATV o 4x4 vehicles dito -- bukod pa sa mas madaling nasisira ang mga sasakyang ikinakasa rito 𝗱𝗮𝗵𝗶𝗹 𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗻𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝘂𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻 𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘇 𝗠𝗶𝗿𝗮. "𝗛𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶 𝘀𝘂𝗹𝗶𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘁," -- ayon sa mga tourism stakeholders sa Sanchez Mira na sumubok nang magkasa ng ATVs sa ating mga sand dunes.

Kaya ATV and 4x4 enthusiasts: please be guided accordingly. 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗹𝘂𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀, 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂?

𝗡𝗢 𝗖𝗔𝗠𝗘𝗟, 𝗡𝗢 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗕𝗟𝗘𝗠

Ang naisip ngayon ng Sanchez Mira Tourism: guided animal rides, tulad ng sa mga sand dunes ng Middle East.

Walang camel sa Sanchez Mira, pero meron tayong mga pretty at poging kalabaw. 𝗟𝗼𝘄-𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁, 𝗹𝗼𝘄-𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗮𝘁 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗴𝗯𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘆 𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 para sa ating mga magsasaka. What's not to love? 😍

At ito mismo ang aming sinubukan nitong nakaraang July 4, 2026 (Sabado), gamit ang dalawang kalabaw na pag-aari ng magsasakang si Noel Aguidan ng Barangay Namuac. Kasama namin ang mga kagawad ng Namuac na sina Shiela Imatong, Levie Malto, at Avelino Ganiban na siyang Tourism Focal Person ng Barangay Namuac. May basbas ito ni Mayor Abe Bagasin at ni Kap. Belman Abon.

𝗜𝗡𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗔𝗟 𝗥𝗘𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦

Sa paunang 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗼 𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁, narito ang ilan sa mga rekomendasyon:

🫶 Mainam kung mayroong istasyon para sa mga kalabaw, kung saan makakalma sila habang umaakyat sa likod nila ang turista

🫶 Maaaring subukang gumawa ng ulnas (karitelang walang gulong) upang makapagkarga ng mas maraming pasahero

🫶 Makakatulong sa pagpapabawas ng kaba ng mga first-timers sa pagsakay kung may saddle o anumang upuan sa likod ng kalabaw

🫶 Maganda kung may ka-MOA na veterinary clinic para matiyak na laging maganda ang kalusugan ng mga kalabaw

Sa mga susunod na buwan ay magpapagawa ng ulnas para sa mga test run na gagawin pa sa hinaharap.

Talaga namang we need to "𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗟𝗼𝘃𝗲" dito sa Pinas. Unang hakbang pa la'ng 'to. Samahan n'yo kami sa pagpapalago ng ideyang ito in the next few months, dito mismo sa Sanchez Mira, our Nest of Love 🪺

Dito sa Sanchez Mira, maraming residente ang nagtatanong: "Saan kaya ninyo dadalhin ang mga turista natin? Parang wala naman tayong kakaibang tanawin dito."

Sa mga ganitong tanong, lagi naming sinasabi, "Sumama kayo sa mga GUIDED TOUR, para makita ninyo kung gaano ka-EXTRAORDINARY ang akala ninyong ordinaryo lang." 😊

Ang bawat tourist spot sa ating bayan -- ruins man 'yan, o isang bundok ng buhangin, o karaniwang pagkain at inumin -- ay daan tungo sa mga bagay na kamangha-mangha.

At ito ang natatanging handog ng ating mga masisipag na TOUR GUIDES: sila ang nagkukwento sa atin ng kasaysayan at kaalaman sa likod ng mga bagay na akala natin ay "wala lang" o kaya'y "ordinaryo lang".

FREE WORKSHOP: The Sanchez Mira Tourism and Information Office organized a 𝗙𝗥𝗘𝗘 𝟮-𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗣𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗵𝘆 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽 as a culminating activity for the celebration of National Heritage Month.

On the workshop's first day, the 29th of May 2026, the lecture proper was held at the 3rd Floor Conference Room of the Sanchez Mira Town Hall.

The photo walk on the second day, 30th of May 2026, was conducted in Sitio Minanga, Barangay Namuac, where locals pleasantly cooperated with the aspiring photographers. Veteran tour guide Boyet Asuncion led the participants around the area's interesting sights.

In participants' comments, they narrated that they did not only learn more about the technical side of photography plus tips and tricks for good photos; what left a mark on them more were their learnings on ethics, respecting fellow photographers, and establishing rapport with the community of locals where they intend to photograph their sets.

Tourism Operations Officer I Carla Ocampo served as mentor. Ocampo is a multi-awarded filmmaker, and Cum Laude graduate of the University of the Philippines - College of Mass Communication.

AT THE MOMENT: Tourists explore volcanic rocks at the Sanchez Mira-Claveria boundary. The rocks are currently easily accessible via the sand deposit blocking the mouth of the river at Sitio Minanga, what locals call "punit".

The tourists are here for a photo walk in connection to the FREE 2-Day Basic Photography Workshop organized by Sanchez Mira Tourism.

With them is veteran Sitio Minanga tour guide Boyet Asuncion.
