Banaoang, Ilocos Sur Banaoang - 2 barangays on both sides of Quirino Bridge. One is the 1st brgy of Santa, a gateway from the north to the 2nd district of Ilocos Sur.

The other Banaoang is the 1st brgy of Bantay, a gateway to the 1st district of locos sur towards the north. Banaoang is the first barangay of Santa and a gateway from the north to the second district of Ilocos Sur, Philippines. ing: the ridge of Mount Tetas de Santa in the east; the winding Abra River and delta in the north and NW of Santa; and the South China Sea to the west. The river, the mountain and the sea contribute to its beauty, which made then Governor-General of the Philippines Theodore Roosevelt, Jr. on his visit in 1925 to say, โ€œThe mountain in the east, the winding roping river in the north, and the immense sea in the west make Santa a poetic town.โ€


Banaoang Gap

The Banaoang Gap is a water gap about 9 kilometres (5.6 mi) long formed by the Abra River by cutting three consecutive tall mountain ridges in the Ilocos Range. It separates Santa and Bantay towns and stretches to San Quintin, Abra. The gap is spanned by the old and new Quirino Bridges connecting the two towns. A viewing deck is located in Brgy. Banaoang in Santa offering dramatic view of the bridge and the broad Abra River backdropped by Mount Tetas de Santa, Mount Binitalo and the other mountains in the Ilocos Range. There is a 24/7 river quarry operations at this location, and associated noise of crushing gravels especially at night time. You can easily see a few dredging machines and trucks in the area.

Dust and sands also a big health concern to the nearby residential areas. How is that .?
