Siquijor Tourism Sees Strong Growth in 2025 with Increased Staying Visitors

Siquijor Island continues to see a positive surge in tourism, with visitor arrivals significantly higher in 2025 than in the previous year. Based on initial counts, the province has already recorded 273,000 staying tourists in 2025, surpassing the 241,529 recorded in 2024.

This growth reflects an increase of over 31,000 visitors, signaling renewed confidence in Siquijor as a preferred destination for travelers seeking meaningful, longer stays rather than short visits. The figures account only for staying tourists, or visitors who spent at least one night on the island, highlighting the province’s growing appeal as a place to slow down, connect with local culture, and fully experience its natural and healing landscapes.

Tourism stakeholders attribute this upward trend to improved destination management, strengthened collaboration among accredited tourism providers, and sustained promotion of Siquijor’s unique identity, one that blends natural beauty, heritage, wellness, and community-based experiences. The island’s emphasis on quality tourism, safety standards, and authentic cultural offerings has encouraged visitors to extend their stays and explore more deeply.

The increase also reflects the gradual stabilization of travel patterns following global disruptions in previous years, with Siquijor emerging as a favored destination for both domestic and international tourists seeking nature, tranquility, and meaningful travel experiences.

As the year progresses, tourism officials anticipate further growth, especially with peak seasons approaching and continued initiatives aimed at sustainable tourism development. With the number of tourists on the rise, Siquijor’s tourism sector is poised to contribute even more strongly to the local economy while reinforcing the province’s commitment to responsible and culturally rooted tourism.
