‎🔥✨ TRAVEL ADVISORY: DILAAB FESTIVAL & TOWN FIESTA
‎
‎Municipality of Siquijor, Siquijor
‎
‎To all our valued tourists, guests, and tour operators — please take note of our biggest celebration in the capital town!
‎
‎📅 OCTOBER 1 - DILAAB FESTIVAL
‎The grand street dancing and showdown competition! "Dilaab" means to blaze — from our old name Isla del Fuego (Island of Fire) because of the fireflies that lit the island at night. It showcases the distinct hospitality and natural beauty of Siquijodnons, in honor of our patron saint, St. Francis of Assisi, lover of nature.
‎
‎📅 OCTOBER 3-4 - TOWN FIESTA
‎October 4 is the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi and is usually declared a Special Non-Working Day in Siquijor town. Expect religious processions, community events, and lots of visitors. 4290
‎
‎🚧 WHAT TO EXPECT & PLEASE PLAN AHEAD:
‎
· ‎Heavy Traffic & Road Closures: The main roads in Siquijor town (around the plaza, church, and provincial road) will be closed or very congested, especially on the morning of Oct 1 for the parade/showdown and Oct 4 for the Fiesta specially noon time.
· ‎Tours & Transfers Will Be Delayed: Island tours and trips to/from the port will take longer than usual.
· ‎Book Early: Hotels, vans, and restaurants will be fully booked. Please arrange accommodations and transport ahead of time.
· ‎Join Us! Feel free to watch the festival — but please give way to the contingents and be patient.
‎
‎Let’s celebrate the light and warmth of Siquijor together!
‎
‎Daghang Salamat sa inyong pagsabot! 🙏

‎📣 TRAVEL ADVISORY: SIQUIJOR DAY - SEPTEMBER 17
‎
‎Every September 17 is Araw ng Siquijor / Siquijor Day! 🎉
‎
‎We celebrate the founding anniversary of our island province as an independent province — created on September 17, 1971 by virtue of Republic Act No. 6398. By law (RA 7673), it is a Special Non-Working Holiday in the whole province.
‎
‎What to expect:
‎
‎🎊 Morning Grand Parade
‎The main celebration starts in the morning at the Provincial Capital. Expect a long parade with contingents from all 6 municipalities, schools, and agencies.
‎
‎🚧 For Tourists & Tour Operators, please PLAN AHEAD:
· ‎Roads around Siquijor Town will be congested / temporarily closed from early morning until noon.
· ‎Island tours, port transfers, and check-outs scheduled in the morning will be delayed.
· ‎Please advise your guests to leave earlier or adjust their itinerary to afternoon.
· ‎Let's give way and let our locals enjoy the celebration.
‎
‎Thank you for understanding and for celebrating 55 years of being a province with us! Your patience helps keep everyone safe and happy.
‎
‎Happy Siquijor Day!
‎

🚨 PUBLIC ADVISORY: HAZE AWARENESS 🚨

As of 8:00 AM, September 1, 2026, haze has been observed in several parts of the Philippines, reportedly associated with smoke from ongoing forest fires in Kalimantan, Indonesia, carried by the Habagat (Southwest Monsoon).

📍 Siquijor is among the areas identified with light to moderate haze.

⚠️ PROTECT YOUR HEALTH
Haze may contain fine particles that can irritate the eyes, nose, throat, and lungs, especially among children, older persons, pregnant individuals, and those with existing respiratory or heart conditions.

For everyone's safety:

😷 Wear a face mask when going outdoors, especially if haze is visibly present.

🏠 Limit prolonged outdoor activities and stay indoors when air quality is poor.

💧 Stay hydrated and keep yourself comfortable.

👁️ Avoid rubbing irritated eyes and wash your face after exposure.

🚭 Avoid smoking and other activities that can worsen air pollution.

👶 Pay extra attention to children and vulnerable individuals.

🏥 Seek medical attention if you experience difficulty breathing, chest discomfort, persistent coughing, or other unusual symptoms.

Let us remain alert, informed, and responsible as we monitor the situation.

Your health and safety come first.

Please share this advisory with your family, friends, and community.
