Today at the Sorsogon Cultural Center for the Arts, the 3rd NAMCYA Padayaw Southern Luzon Cluster Traditional Music Workshop brought together young Filipino musicians, music educators, and music enthusiasts for a meaningful learning experience in Philippine traditional music.

Led by Dr. Lilymae Franco Montano, music educator and ethnomusicologist, the workshop was a beautiful opportunity to learn, share, and celebrate the richness of our musical heritage. ๐ŸŽป๐ŸŽผ

Today marks the inauguration of Balay na Dako, a new space along the Sorsogon City Coastal Road created to bring our senior citizens and youth together.

Designed as a recreational and events venue, Balay na Dako will be a place for movie screenings, board games, community activities, celebrations, and different events where they can simply enjoy, connect, and spend meaningful time with one another.

More than a new structure, it is a space where stories can be shared, friendships can grow, and different generations can create happy memories together.

Because sometimes, the best moments happen when we simply have a place to gather, laugh, and be together. โค๏ธ

AI-POWERED TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT TECHNOLOGY TO BE PILOTED IN SORSOGON CITY

Sorsogon City is set to explore smarter traffic management solutions as the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) prepares to pilot advanced technologies powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI).

As part of the preparations, a site inspection and seminar were conducted to assess how AI, real-time data, and emerging technologies can help improve traffic flow and strengthen the cityโ€™s traffic management system.

Among the technologies presented are SERVIS-STEER (Swift Emergency Response Vehicle Integration System with Smart Traffic and Electronic Enforcer on the Road), designed to help prioritize emergency vehicles, as well as NAIRA VBANTAI (Nexus for Artificial Intelligence Research and Application: Vision-Based Adaptive Intelligent Traffic Control with AI) and ADVENTUS (Alpha Development of Vehicle-to-Everything Node Transceivers for User Scenarios), which support intelligent traffic monitoring and more efficient transportation systems.

According to CICTO Chief John Jason Palma, the pilot testing presents an opportunity for Sorsogon City to explore how modern technology can help address traffic management challenges and improve public services.

Through this initiative, the city looks forward to building a smarter, more efficient, and responsive traffic management system that will benefit motorists, commuters, pedestrians, emergency responders, and all road users.
