SULOP, DAVAO DEL SUR – The Sulop Municipal Government, through its LEDIPO/Tourism Office, hosted an essential forum on packaging and labeling for local bibingka vendors on June 16, 2025. This initiative, conducted by the Department of Science and Technology Regional Office XI (DOST-XI) through its Provincial Science and Technology Office in Davao del Sur (PSTO DS), aims to significantly boost the marketability and appeal of Sulop's beloved delicacy. Twenty-four members of the Sulop Bibingka Makers Association (SUBIMAA), including seventeen females and seven males, actively participated in the seminar.

Ms. Donna Rose D. Ching, SRS II of DOST XI, led the forum, delivering a comprehensive presentation titled "Food Packaging and Labeling: Navigating Compliance Standards." Her insights equipped participants with crucial knowledge and skills to enhance product appeal, meet regulatory standards, and build stronger brand identities, promoting consumer trust. This training builds upon a recent product development activity conducted by the Davao del Sur State College (DSSC), which focused on innovating both traditional and new bibingka flavors, ensuring that the improved packaging will complement a truly enhanced product.

Sulop Mayor Atty. Jose Jimmy S. Sagarino graced the event, delivering an inspiring message that underscored the forum's importance in improving product appearance and marketability. He reiterated the Local Government Unit's unwavering commitment to uplifting its constituents' lives, aligning with its ten-point development plan. In her message, Leah M. Sumalinog of PSTO DS outlined DOST XI's continued support, which includes assistance in designing packaging and labeling that meets industry standards, as well as providing consultancy services for establishing Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) compliant facilities and processes.
