29 Graduates of the Homestay Pilipinas Training for Surigao City Homestay Operators

The office, in partnership with the Department of Tourism (DOT) Caraga, successfully conducted the 7-Day Homestay Pilipinas Training from May 20–26, 2026, at the City Cultural Center, Surigao City.

A total of 29 participants from Sitio Brazil of Brgy. Mat-I and the barangays of Day-asan, Mabua, Ipil, Washington, Luna, Taft, San Juan, and Rizal actively engaged in the comprehensive training program.

City Councilor Hon. Arnold A. Go, Chairperson of the Committee on Tourism, Atty. Krystel Grace C. Buniel, Youth Development Officer IV ; representative of City Mayor Pablo Yves L. Dumlao II, and Roselyn Armida B. Merlin, City Tourism and Cultural Affairs Officer attended the closing and graduation ceremonies.

The successful conduct of the training culminated in the graduation of newly equipped homestay operators and the induction of the newly elected officers of the Surigao City Homestay Operators Association.

These individuals have accepted the challenge of leadership, responsibility, and dedication to provide high-quality and service-driven accommodations that reflect the true essence of Filipino hospitality.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the graduates for their active participation, enthusiasm, and commitment throughout the training. We also express our sincere gratitude to the Department of Tourism (DOT) Caraga speakers and facilitators for generously sharing their expertise, guidance, and invaluable insights, which greatly contributed to the success of the program.

A coordination meeting was conducted by the office last friday, May 22, at Espina Conference Room, in preparation for the upcoming 1st Pinta-Lajag Festival on May 30–31 and the Sakay-Sakay Abayan Festival on May 31, part of the 42nd Patronal Fiesta in honor of Virgen de la Paz y Buen Viaje of Bilang-Bilang, Surigao City.
