The Sandugo was a blood compact, performed in the island of Bohol in the Philippines, between the Spanish explorer Miguel López de Legazpi and Datu Sikatuna the chieftain of Bohol on March 16, 1565, to seal their friendship as part of the tribal tradition. This is considered as the first treaty of friendship between the Spaniards and Filipinos. "Sandugo" is a Visayan word which means "one blood"

La Purisima Concepcion de la Virgen Maria Parish Church (also The Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary Parish Church), commonly known as Baclayon Church, is a Roman Catholic Church in the municipality of Baclayon, Bohol, Philippines within the jurisdiction of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Tagbilaran. Baclayon was founded by the Jesuit priest Juan de Torres and Gabriel Sánchez in 1596, and became the oldest Christian settlement in Bohol. It was elevated as a parish in 1717 and the present coral stone church was completed in 1737. The Augustinian Recollects succeeded the Jesuits in 1768 and heavily renovated the church since then.

The Tarsier is the national treasure of the Philippines, and it is also an endangered animal. Their size is very small. They are only the size of a palm, but they have large round eyes, like wearing glasses, hence the name tarsi. The Cobra Monkey Visitor Center is the famous tarsier protection center and visit point in Bohol, where you can observe the various poses of the tarsiers at close range.

Bohol’s manmade forest can be found in the borders of Bilar and Loboc. It is a 2-kilometer stretch of thick mahogany trees and is really one fascinating spot. The road to the Bilar Manmade Forest is often deserted. Only the sound of chirping birds and the swaying leaves can be heard. Some find it best to be on a motorbike and pass through the Bilar Manmade Forest to get the feel of the countryside. Others take a quick detour here from either the Chocolate Hills or the Tarsier Conservatory on their rented vans.

People include visiting this place not to see grand sights or anything similar to that. They go here to drown in the abundance of lush greenery that they don’t see in their usual city life or have their photos taken on the free road where no 10-wheeler trucks pass by. This is what people have in mind when going to Bilar Manmade Forest: being one with nature.

Loboc Bohol is home of the famous Loboc Children’s Choir, Loboc is a peaceful municipality that is world famous to its well-known river which is aptly called Loboc River. This river is one of the cleanest rivers in the country. This is the one tourist spot you don’t want to miss during your Bohol Tours. The Loboc River Dinner Cruise starts by the Loay Bridge which is located in the neighboring town of Loay or at the Loboc town proper where you can choose from a variety of river cruising vessels. The Loboc River cruise usually runs for an hour or so back and forth. Make sure you ad this tour to your itinerary when visiting bohol…its something you wont want to miss….

It’s common for Filipinos to talk about myths and legends surrounding a particular place, especially if its origin is unknown or there’s no single explanation behind it. While some argue that these legends were only told to satisfy the curiosity of Filipino children, others claim that it’s somewhat a half-truth story.

The story behind the origins of the pride of the Visayan Region is no exception. According to legends, the hills came into existence because of two feuding giants who hurled rocks, boulders, and sand at each other.

After their fight was over, this eventually led to a huge mess of hills – which is the Chocolate Hills we know today. Another legend claims what really transpired was a heartbroken giant cried a lot of tears which led to the formation of these limestone hills. The third legend though is hard to imagine for some – they say these hills were dried f***s of carabaos.
