Tanawan, a name given by the locals for obvious reasons, is located in Sta. Monica, Tagkawayan, Quezon, with a height of more or less 300 MASL. It is just one of the many ridges of Mt. Cadig facing south with a panoramic view of the lowland farms and mountains, and to the northeast of Tanawan is a lush secondary forest, home to a variety of endemic flora and fauna. It borders Casispalan to the southeast and Bagong Silang to the northwest. Tanawan is not the peak of Mt. Cadig.

Tanawan is a more or less 2-hour hike one-way (depending on the capacity of the hiker) from the creek/river where the farm-to-market road ends, and from the last creek, it is a continuous ascent until you reach Tanawan. The hike covers approximately 3.6 kilometers.

A gentle reminder: umakyat kayo ng bundok for peace of mind, to relax, to unwind, or perhaps to test one's abilities or strength. It does not mean na mag-iiwan na kayo ng basura doon, o pakialalaman ang kung anong meron sa lugar, o magingay kayo nang labis. Kung kayo rin naman lang ang opposite, then you do not deserve the place.
