Taal Volcano is one of the most active and unique volcanoes in the Philippines. It is located in Batangas and is famous for being an βisland within a lake within an island,β since it sits in Taal Lake on Luzon Island.

Prehistoric times β The area was once part of the sea. Powerful eruptions formed what is now Taal Lake.
1572 β The first recorded eruption after the arrival of the Spanish.

2020 eruption β Sent ash as far as Metro Manila and forced mass evacuations.
