Karding Advisory No. 1

PAL Advisory on Typhoon ‘Karding’

We are closely monitoring the track of Super Typhoon ‘Karding’ (international codename: “Noru”), which is expected to cross through parts of central and northern Luzon and affect other areas of the Philippines tonight (September 25 – Sunday) and tomorrow (September 26 – Monday).

Flights to and from Manila (MNL) are still slated to operate today. Nonetheless, if the storm remains on its current path, Philippine Airlines may have to cancel certain flights or adjust schedules for urgent safety reasons.

If you are traveling on a flight to/from Metro Manila, Clark or one of the affected areas on September 25 or 26, we recommend that you check the status of your flight before proceeding to the airport. Due to Super Typhoon Karding (Noru), passengers with flights touching Manila from 4pm onwards today, September 25, 2022, and who wish to voluntarily postpone their scheduled flights may avail of CEB’s flexible options- Rebook or Convert to Travel Fund.

ALL DOMESTIC FLIGHTS RETURN TO TERMINAL 1

Cebu, Philippines – Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) shall operate all Domestic Departures and Arrivals at Terminal 1 (T1) effective 15 October 2022, 00:01 PST. Effectively, Terminal 2 (T2) shall be dedicated for all International Departures and Arrivals.

MCIA continues to experience increased domestic traffic with domestic demand now at 67% of pre-pandemic levels. In the same period of 2019, daily average at MCIA tipped at 35,000 passengers for domestic and international. International traffic continues to take increased traffic from Korea, Japan, and Taiwan. In the next months, MCIA is also expecting resumption of flights from Hong Kong and China.

MCIA remains committed in ensuring smooth airport experience for its passengers and stakeholders. Thank you for your usual cooperation and understanding.

Reminder – Pork Ban on domestic flights

To our valued passengers:

We wish to remind everyone that it is prohibited to carry any type of pork, including pork-related products and by-products, whether raw, processed or cooked, in hand-carry and/or checked in baggage when flying to the following domestic destinations:

• Bacolod (BCD)
• Butuan (BXU)
• Cagayan de Oro (CGY)
• Caticlan (MPH) – except when coming from another point in the Visayas region
• Davao (DVO)
• Dipolog (DPL)
• General Santos (GES)
• Iloilo (ILO)
• Kalibo (KLO)
• Puerto Princesa (PPS)
• Roxas (RXS)
• Tagbilaran (TAG)
• Antique (EUQ)
• Zamboanga (ZAM)

While it is a temporary measure, this ban will stay in effect until revoked by the concerned local government health authorities. The ban was imposed to prevent the spread of African Swine Fever (ASF) in vulnerable areas of the Philippines.

For a hassle-free journey, please ensure you are not carrying any of the above pork products.
