Lake Manguao (also known as Lake Danao) in Taytay, Palawan, is widely called a “birdwatcher’s Eden” and is one of the most important inland wetland habitats in the region. Nestled within 640 hectares of freshwater surrounded by lush, undisturbed forest, it hosts more than 130 recorded bird species—including endemic, migratory, and rare ones. Every bird here plays a vital role: from controlling insect populations to dispersing seeds and maintaining the balance of the wetland ecosystem.
