The Municipal Tourism Office of Tomas Oppus warmly welcomed a group of Information Technology students from Southern Leyte State University who visited the office to conduct an interview regarding the Paujog Festival.

The visit provided an opportunity for a meaningful exchange of information, during which the students gained valuable insights into the history, cultural significance, and development of the Paujog Festival as one of the municipality’s important cultural celebrations.

The Municipal Tourism Office is pleased to support academic research and learning activities that help promote awareness and appreciation of the rich culture and traditions of Tomas Oppus. The office also extends its appreciation to the students for their interest in documenting and learning about the local heritage of the community.

Tomas Oppus Tourism Trivia

The river systems and spring waters of Tomas Oppus are naturally interconnected, forming a continuous and vital hydrological network that sustains the municipality.

This system originates from Tinugpahan Falls, where water from the upland areas begins its course. It then flows toward Carungao Spring, contributing to groundwater recharge and supporting nearby communities and agricultural areas.

The water continues to Busong-Busong Cold Spring, widely regarded as the heart of Tomas Oppus. This spring serves as a primary water source for the majority of the municipality, providing reliable supply for domestic use and daily activities.

The interconnected flow extends further to Mabawod Spring, completing a system shaped by nature and sustained through responsible stewardship.

This natural interconnection highlights the importance of protecting watersheds, forests, and water sources, as the preservation of these resources ensures water security and environmental sustainability for present and future generations of Tomas Oppus.

Ipinamalas sa pandaigdigang entablado ang pambihirang ganda ng yamang-dagat ng Southern Leyte, na kinikilala bilang isa sa mga pangunahing dive destinations sa Pilipinas, sa ginanap na Salon de la Plongée 2026 sa Paris, France mula January 8 hanggang 11, 2026.
