TOURISM ADVISORY ON THE POSSIBLE EXTENDED EFFECTS OF EL NIÑO
In reference to the El Niño Alert issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration on April 22, 2026, indicating a forecast probability of 70% or higher for the development of El Niño within the next two to three months, this Office hereby issues the following advisory:
ADVISORY GUIDELINES
1. Public Awareness and Safety
Tourists and residents are encouraged to stay hydrated, wear appropriate clothing, and use sun protection when engaging in outdoor activities.
2. Water Conservation Measures
Responsible water use among households, tourism establishments, and accommodation providers is strongly encouraged due to possible limited water supply.
3. Fire Prevention and Control
Open fires, bonfires, and improper disposal of flammable materials are strictly discouraged, especially in grassland and forest areas.
4. Travel Planning and Coordination
Municipal Tourism Officers and barangay officials are advised to provide updated information on site conditions, accessibility, and availability of basic services.
5. Compliance and Monitoring
Strict implementation and monitoring of relevant municipal ordinances and safety protocols shall be ensured.
FOR TOURISM STAKEHOLDERS
All tourism operators and establishments are enjoined to:
1. Develop contingency plans for water supply and visitor safety;
2. Inform guests of current conditions and precautionary measures;
3. Coordinate closely with concerned Local Government Units (LGUs)
