This week, the Museo de Catanduanes welcomed visitors who took time to step inside and discover the stories that have shaped the Happy Island.

Through its collections, artifacts, photographs, and heritage displays, the museum offers a glimpse into Catanduanesโ€™ history, culture, and the enduring traditions of the Catandunganon people.

For every guest who walks through its doors, may the experience inspire a deeper appreciation for where we came fromโ€”and a greater desire to help preserve the stories and heritage we carry forward.

August 14, 2026 | The Provincial Capitol Lobby comes alive today with the vibrant flavors, products and creativity of Catanduanes as the Trade Fair opens in support of the 4th Regional Management Committee Meeting of the Department of Education Regional Office V.

Featuring products and offerings from local MSMEs, the trade fair highlights how MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) Tourism can create meaningful opportunities for local enterprises by bringing event participants closer to the products, food, crafts, and other experiences that Catanduanes has to offer.

More than simply hosting meetings and events, MICE tourism can become a platform for local economic, connecting businesses to new markets and turning every gathering into an opportunity to discover, experience, and support what is proudly made and produced in the Happy Island.

August 13, 2026 | The Municipality of Viga showcased its culinary heritage through ๐—ž๐˜‚๐—น๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐˜†๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ด ๐—ฉ๐—ถ๐—ด๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ผ๐—ป ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฌ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฒ, one of the highlights of the 16๐’•๐’‰ ๐‘ท๐’‚๐’“๐’‚๐’š ๐‘ญ๐’†๐’”๐’•๐’Š๐’—๐’‚๐’, held as part of the municipalityโ€™s town fiesta celebration.

Featuring creativity, skills, and flavors of Viganon cooks, the culinary competition celebrated the use of local ingredients and homegrown food practices while providing a platform for participants to showcase their passion for food and culture.

The Board of Judges for the competition was composed of Provincial Tourism Officer Carmel Bonifacio-Garcia; Mr. Gerome B. Tapas Jr., Municipal Tourism Officer of San Miguel; Mr. Jerico R. Tating, Municipal Tourism Officer of Baras; Mr. Rommel Padilla, last yearโ€™s Kulinaryang Viganon winner and Chef of Trio Hermano; and Chef Bryan Aquino of Sauwce Diner.

Activities such as Kulinaryang Viganon not only bring communities together in celebration but also help preserve and promote the diverse food traditions that form an important part of Catanduanesโ€™ cultural identity.

Our warmest commendation to the Local Government Unit of Viga headed by Mayor Jennifer M. Tuplano, through Ms. Rose Ann O. Torres, Municipal Tourism Operations Officer, for the successful staging of Kulinaryang Viganon.
