This morning we depart Rotorua to the township of Matamata. Experience the real Middle-earth at the Hobbiton Movie Set tour, where, in the heart of the Waikato region, you can step into the lush pastures of the Shire, as seen in The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies. Your guide will es**rt you around the set showing the intricate detailing, pointing out the most famous locations and explaining how the movie magic was made. You will be fully guided around the 12 acre set; past Hobbit Holes, the Mill and into the world-famous Green Dragonโข Inn, where you will be presented with a complimentary Hobbit beverage to conclude your own Middle-earth adventure and Buffet lunch is included. After lunch we return back to Rotorua and gain an insight into New Zealand's Mฤori culture at Te Puia and experience Rotorua's geothermal activity with a tour of the Whakarewarewa Thermal Valley - a place where mud pools bubble and boil and the famous Pohutu Geyser shoot steam 30m high into the air. You'll also visit the New Zealand Maori and Crafts institute where you can watch carvers and weavers carry out the traditions of their Maori ancestors and see how these ancient Mฤori art forms are being passed on to a new generation of master artists.

Travel across the fertile Canterbury Plains before arriving at Lake Tekapo. The settlement of Lake Tekapo is at the southern end of the lake. Follow the southern arm of Lake Wakatipu lumsden, and onward to Lake Te Anau. Enter the Eglinton Valley and travel through the breath taking man made Homer Tunnel, a 1.2km-long tunnel through solid rock. Before the tunnel opened in 1954 after 19 years of construction, there was no road access to Milford Sound. Passing through the tunnel and seeing the steep, winding road leading down through the Cleddau Valley is nothing short of breath taking.
