Rakaposhi is a mountain in the Karakoram mountain range of the Gilgit-Baltistan
Elevation: 7,788 m

First ascent: 1958

Prominence: 2,818 m

Location: Nagar Valley Gilgit, Gilgit-Baltistan,

Mountain range: Karakoram

Easiest route: Southwest Spur - glacier/snow/ice

Breathtakingly beautiful view of sunset. Gold & Silver shades of majestic Rakaposhi mountain.

Rakaposhi is the only mountain in the world with more than 5,000 meters height between base camp and the summit; by contrast all of the other tallest mountains in the world have less than 5,000 meters from base camp to top.

The first successful recorded ascent by non-natives was in 1958 by Mike Banks and Tom Patey, members of a British expedition, via the Southwest Spur/Ridge route.

Daniel Trinchillo and the "King of Shiger mines ", the largest specimen of the famous find made in 2019 in Byansaphi, Shigar Valley, Gilgit-Baltistan Territory, northern Pakistan. This specimen of aquamarine on feldsword (81 cm wide and nearly 200 kg) is one of the world's largest and thinnest mineral specimens.
