WalkBeside is the story of two friends, travelers and photographers, who decided to craft tours and adventures focusing on local people and their cultures.

The 2026 season features four destinations where we have both traveled and that changed the way we see the world. In a world that often rushes and pushes, Walk Beside Co. offers a gentle reminder: the best way to travel is to walk beside others, in harmony and kindness, discovering not just new places but also new parts of ourselves.

Join our tour groups to these four destinations:
* Iraq: from April 10th to 19th.
* Siberia: from May 1st to 8th.
* Mongolia: from May 14th to 23rd.
* Pakistan: two tours are available:
* Spring: May 30th to June 10th
* Autumn: October 21st to November 1st

Around 60 families remain : roughly 300 people. The young generation is leaving, and the climate is changing. Those who stay resist, living the old way at the very edge of the modern world.
But for how long? We may be witnessing the last generations of reindeer herders on Earth.
We are going back to visit them this May : don’t miss this opportunity!

Hunza and Skardu felt very different, even though they’re close on the map.
Hunza is calmer, more settled. Mornings are slow, people take their time, and daily life feels balanced with the landscape.
Skardu is rougher. More wind, more rock, stronger weather. Life here feels shaped by survival rather than comfort.
Both places slow you down.
Walking more, talking less, observing instead of consuming.
Being here reminded me how little is actually needed to feel present.

-Field Notes from Mongolia-
After the most intense driving and reindeer ride you arrive to the spring base of the Tsaatan the last reindeer herders of Mongolia.

The first thing we saw was the six hundred reindeer that had been tied up for the night so they wouldn’t wander off. They had to be released onto the pasture, which meant that two men, each riding a reindeer, guided the herd, while the others, including us untied the animals. The reindeer were tied in pairs: one older and one younger, so the younger could learn how to behave and where the pasture was.

After this, most of the animals began trotting toward the grazing area, which was about a thirty-minute journey away. Once the last pair was freed, the two men on reindeer set off after them. I just stood there, wondering whether this was really happening or if I was dreaming.

The children start to wake as well. Grandma Klaudia arranges the clothes of three-year-old Eva, wipes her face, and presses a ready cup of tea into her hand. The two boys are still resting. It will be a long day for Semoy, the younger of the two brothers, because he will be away for two weeks. He is going to visit the family’s reindeer and gradually herd them down from the mountains, so that halfway they can meet the others and begin the annual migration with the 600 animals.

We all wake up; there’s no need for extra layers anymore, the stove is fully heated. We sit down at the table; Galya has already set everything out. There is raw fish, sausages, tea, tea biscuits, bread, and some reindeer meat. We eat breakfast in silence. When we finish, Vale gathers the plates and cups and washes everything in the water warming on top of the stove.

The two brothers put on their reindeer-fur coats, a single piece with hood and gloves attached, reaching down to mid-thigh. In the same way, they pull on the first layer of their footwear, also made of reindeer hide and reaching up to mid-thigh, then the waterproof boots over it, and they are ready to head outside.
