Two Polish aviators, Sebastian Kawa and Sebastian Kot Lampart, have successfully flown a glider above K2, the world's second-highest peak at 8,611 meters. This marks the first time anyone has accomplished such an achievement.
After completing the necessary procedures and obtaining a flying license from local authorities in the Shigar district, Kawa and Lampart launched their flight on Saturday at 4:50 pm. They took off from Skardu airport, navigated the Karakoram range, and successfully flew over K2’s summit, making aviation history.
The Alpine Club of Pakistan confirmed this historic flight, noting the exceptional skills and determination of the pilots, who overcame high-speed winds and strict flight regulations in Pakistan.
