“Azadi?” Sometimes, the word feels hollow when people believe their voices no longer matter. When speaking up feels dangerous, freedom can become just a word instead of something people truly experience.

We are blessed to have an independent country, Alhamdulillah. We are grateful to Allah and to every one of our ancestors and people who made sacrifices for Pakistan. We will never deny what this country has given us, nor will we forget the struggles and sacrifices that made its existence possible.

But loving our country also means acknowledging its pain. Sometimes, it feels heartbreaking to see injustice around us, to see ordinary people struggling, and to feel that promises are made far more often than they are fulfilled.

As Hemingway wrote, “Dying for your country is a patriotic fairy tale…” — a reminder that the cost of conflict is ultimately paid by ordinary people.

We do not wish for anything against our country. We simply pray that Pakistan becomes a place where people feel safe, where justice is not a privilege, where voices can be heard without fear, and where the promises of freedom become a lived reality.

May Allah protect Pakistan, bless its people, and guide those who have the power to make things better.
