A small roadside moment in Gilgit turned into a big lesson for all of us.

A tourist casually tossed his garbage out of the car treating this pristine land like a dustbin. What he didn’t expect was the reaction of the locals nearby.

Without hesitation, they picked up the very trash he threw and hurled it right back onto his car. Words were exchanged, tempers flared, and a heated argument broke out on the roadside all witnessed by passersby.

Gilgit Baltistan’s mountains, rivers, and valleys are not just tourist attractions they are home to the people who live there, and a fragile ecosystem that deserves respect. Eco-tourism isn’t just a buzzword; it’s a responsibility. Wherever we travel, we carry a duty to leave the place as clean if not cleaner than we found it.
