If there is one thing you must do today, it is this: make dua, more dua, and then even more dua. Do not let this sun set without pouring out every secret, every worry, and every dream you have ever carried.
The great Imam al-Nawawi gave a chilling warning about this very moment. He said that this is the best day of the year for supplication. A person should give everything he has - all his energy and all his focus - in dhikr, dua, and reciting the Quran. He warned us to beware of wasting it, for this day cannot be made up. When today is over, it is gone forever. You cannot get the Day of Arafah back once the moon of Eid rises.
Ibn Abd al-Barr added another layer of hope to this urgency. He said that the dua of the Day of Arafah is better than any other day, and the most incredible part is that the dua of this day is, for the most part, answered in full. Think about that for a moment. This isn't just a day to pray; it is a day to receive. The gates of the heavens are not just cracked open - they are wide open, and the King is waiting to give.
On this great day from the days of Allah, do not stop. Make your duas long. Make them detailed. Keep repeating your personal needs over and over again. Do not feel shy to ask for the big things or the small things. To Allah, the creation of a galaxy is just as easy as answering the whisper of a broken heart.
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us the secret of a successful dua through a powerful divine hadith found in Sahih Muslim. Allah says: "I am as My servant thinks of Me, and I am with him when he calls on Me."
This is the key to your Day of Arafah. Think well of Allah. Be hopeful. Do not let Shaytan whisper to you that you are too sinful to be heard, or that your problems are too complex to be solved. If you think that Allah is the Most Merciful, you will find Him Merciful. If you think He is the Giver, you will find Him giving. He is with you the very second your lips move.
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ lived His ﷺ life as a walking manifestation of this connection. Even in the busiest moments of leadership and war, His ﷺ heart was always in a state of dua. He ﷺ knew that whoever keeps making dua, his happiness and well-being will last. Prayer isn't just a ritual; it is the heartbeat of a happy life. It is the rope that pulls you out of every well and the light that guides you through every dark tunnel.
So, for the remaining hours of this day, let the world fade away. Let the notifications go unanswered and the conversations wait. This is a private audience between you and your Creator. Ask for the guidance you need, the health you desire, and the Jannah you hope for. Ask for your parents, your children, and the suffering people across the world.
Remember, the person who keeps knocking on the door of Allah will eventually see it swing wide open. Happiness is not found in having no problems; it is found in having a Lord who solves them.
