This feels like the most beautiful ending to my year, the greatest gift of all: Allah inviting me to His house.

As I reflect on the past year, I realize I am standing at a point in life where success exists on one side and grief on the other. Nothing in this world comes without a price, every blessing and every trial carries its own cost. Through the chaos, the highs and lows, and the many challenges I faced, the one thing that kept me grounded was the Qur’an.

It felt as though it shattered me completely like a bow cutting through flesh only to mend me into something stronger and more beautiful. That is how it held me, healed me, and carried me through every moment. I feel deeply privileged to be among those whom Allah calls to His house time and again. There is a purpose behind it all, one I am still uncovering.

Alhamdulillah I am among the most privileged people in this world whom Allah invites back to his house again and again. ...

Alhamdulillah I am among the most privileged people in this world whom Allah invites back to his house again and again. There is a purpose, and I am on my journey to discover it more deeply. May Allah give us hidayah.

In August, I set out to finally spending a week exploring the High and Western Tatras in Slovakia. I had my routes planned, mountain passes bookmarked, and my heart set on the journey.

But just four days before leaving, I received unexpected news my hemoglobin levels were critically low. My doctor advised me to reconsider the trip. Even climbing stairs was leaving me breathless. How could I possibly hike in the mountains with a backpack and steep ascents?

For days, I wrestled with the decision. Do I cancel? or Do I go and discover what I’m truly capable of? I chose to go.

The Tatras welcomed me with rugged peaks, clear alpine air, and trails that challenged me from the very first step. Every ascent felt like a marathon. My legs were heavy, my heart raced, yet I moved slowly, steadily one breath, one step at a time.

One night, I took the challenge even further. I slept under the open sky at the top of a mountain. The sky was scattered with thousands of stars. The wind was sharp and cold. Every sound in the dark reminded me that bears roamed these forests. I was shivering, afraid, but managed life 😀
And Slovakia… what a beautiful country.

Some notes from the journey:
1. I traveled by road from Germany, crossing Poland in between highly recommend it for the scenic views.
2. Halal food is almost non-existent in the Tatras region, so I mostly survived on fish.
3. The High Tatras are breathtaking, but extremely crowded especially around Rysy Peak, which lies on the border of Slovakia and Poland. If you prefer more peaceful trails, the Western Tatras are far less touristy.
